About the Gemcrafters & Explorers Club

Purpose

The purpose of the Gemcrafters & Explorers Club shall be to gather knowledge and provide educational benefits to members on geological, archaeological, lapidary, and mineralogical topics of interest, to include assistance to members in all lapidary problems, the study and identification of minerals and gem stones in the rough, the field study of geological formations which produce minerals and gem stones, the collection of minerals and gemstones, and the exploration of any geological or archaeological topic or area which may be of interest to the membership.

Meetings

The Gemcrafters & Explorers Club is centered in Las Cruces, New Mexico. General meeting are held on the third Friday of the month at Gardiner Hall, Room 118, NMSU campus, Las Cruces, NM at 6:30 pm for social and 7 pm for the meeting. There are no meetings in July and December. Meetings are open to the public. A typical meeting includes a one-hour presentation on a topic of general interest with a Q & A segment followed by the introduction of visitors and a business meeting. Field Trips

The Gemcrafters & Explorers Club tries to have at least one field trip per month. Most field trips are single day events and are held on the Saturday following the general meeting (third Friday of the month). Some field trips span several days and accommodate overnight camping.
